Province House
Anyone who has visited Parliament, in Ottawa, can attest that the experience was rewarding from a historical perspective. Anyone who has opened the door of Province House, located in Prince Edward Island’s capital, Charlottetown, can say the same.
That building is the birthplace of Confederation and has been the seat of the provincial legislature since 1847. At first, visitors will enjoy its neoclassical architecture. Interpretative panels and the official Province House app will give you a host of details and information about its history. Unfortunately, the building is closed for conservation purposes, but if you’re interested in the story of Canada’s birth, a visit to the Confederation Centre of the Arts is a must!
You’ll be able to admire an accurate replica of the Confederation Chamber and watch the new video called A Building of Destiny. A guided tour of the exhibit that includes a few original artifacts from the Confederation Chamber is at your fingertips as well.
